New yacht rock.
This rain is not making me happy at all. And apparently, it is supposed to rain for the next 10 days or so. I really do wonder why humans ever decided to inhabit this foggy, cold, damp peninsula of San Francisco. The rain is especially annoying right now because we've, the Lu-ster and I, have just taken up a new sport: disc golf! I've been looking for a new athletic endeavor for a long time. Initially, I really wanted to take up bass fishing. I did a ton of research and while I'll always being captivated by the nuances and skill of catching bass (ever set up a Carolina rig?), I decided that it just wasn't practical. There is only one freshwater lake in town and sadly, it harbors no bass. Plus I would of needed a ton of gear, like a boat. So, this left disc golf, a game that has always looked like fun. Jen and I both scored $26 disc golf sets (driver, putter and another driver) at the local sports basement and I started spending time on various disc golf websites. So much to learn! I won't bore you with the details but it's a little more complicated than just chucking a frisbee around. This past Sunday I finally ventured to my local course, Golden Gate Park, and learned something else: Disc gold is really popular. The course was filled with groups of bro's, often carrying huge bags, which I figured out were not for their wide assortments of discs but for cold beer. Everyone seemed to be having fun, but everyone also seemed pretty serious as well, or they were simply hung over. I played about five holes, even parred one. Can't wait to get out there and play18, if it ever stops raining in this cold, damp, miserable swamp we call San Francisco.
In other news: I gave out about 500 information/application packets for my school where I described the place that I work as a "pubic charter school". Yes, I'm in a hairy situation now and feeling quite crabby about it as well.
